Since making a big splash with her role as Sean Penn's daughter in "I Am Sam," Dakota Fanning's career has really taken off. In "Uptown Girls," Fanning stars opposite another rising young star, Brittany Murphy, as the two team up onscreen for lessons on life, love, and growing up.

Five years before "Uptown Girls" made its way to the big screen, Allison Jacobs was working as a receptionist at Greenestreet Films. She approached Greenestreet partners Fisher Stevens and John Penotti with the idea of making a movie based on the life of the daughter of a rock star, and after much tweaking, "Uptown Girls" was born.
