In "Eight Legged Freaks," Riley Smith plays Randy, a motorcycle-riding town kid who learns the hard way just how fast and deadly the gigantic spiders actually are.

RILEY SMITH (Randy)

Can you tell me a little about your character in "Eight Legged Freaks?"
I play this local townie who gets killed right away. I'm like the guy that you know is going to die. The part was kind of small but it's important. It's a cool death scene. It sets up the fact that these people can get killed, that these spiders can really kill people.

When I read for Dean, he was like, "Hey, this is a small part but it's the best death scene you can have." I was like, "Alright, cool." I haven't seen it yet; I'm ready to see it. How many times do you get to be eaten by a gigantic spider? Never. They were like, "Roll around on the ground and pretend a big spider is eating you." I'm thinking, "How do you even prepare to do that?"

How did you do that? Did they have anything there for you to focus on?
No, nothing. It was totally my imagination. They put me down on the ground, the sun was going down and they said, "We've got 30 minutes to get this. Get down on the ground and start rolling around."

Did you do your own motorcycle stunts?
Yes, but not all of them. I didn't do the jumping but we did ride quite a bit - only because I knew how. I'd done a movie on bikes before so I knew how to ride a bike.

What's next for you?
I'm just chillin'. I'm taking a little break. I've had a TV show all year and I just need time to settle down a little bit and relax, and then I'll get back into it in the fall.
