All the hype and hoopla surrounding the release of the second "Charlie's Angels" movie was captured in one crazy night as streets were shut down in the middle of Hollywood for the movie's World Premiere. Hundreds of special guests (celebrities and non-celebrities) as well as thousands of cheering fans added to the circus-like atmosphere of this year's biggest premiere to date.
In "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" the Angels (played by Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore) kick butt on the bad guys while wearing stiletto heels, skimpy outfits and even bikinis. But don't let anyone say this is a T&A movie, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" is more about empowering women than it is about looking good and attracting men.
Amidst the craziness of the World Premiere, I managed to get a few comments from the Angels themselves as well as their director - and friend - McG.
CAMERON DIAZ, LUCY LIU, & DREW BARRYMORE ('The Angels')
Who are the real 'angels' in each of your lives?
LUCY LIU: The team that I work with everyday, and my mom and my sister.
DREW BARRYMORE: And these girls.
CAMERON DIAZ: These girls, my family, my mom and my sister, and every woman who has ever influenced me in my life. And definitely I have to say there are angels all around us.
LUCY LIU: And professors!
There are so many people who doubt women can work together as closely as you three have without there being 'catfights.' What do you say to those skeptics?
LUCY LIU: I don't think that's the case. I think women get along and they've never had a good example. Hopefully this movie will show that that's possible.
DIRECTOR McG
With two "Charlie's Angels" movies under your belt, life must be pretty good right now.
Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz have a friendship off camera. Did they include you in any of their off-screen antics?
What did you think about getting Demi Moore to come back to film work for "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle?"
How's your working relationship with Drew Barrymore?
I think Drew is a passionate person. She's into celebrating the human experience, emotionally, physically and in every capacity and I think that's where her charms come from. My hat's off to her. These are girls that are comfortable in their own skin, and kick ass and take names.
