John Grisham's bestselling novel, "The Runaway Jury," is finally making its way to the big screen. New Regency expects production to begin on September 16, 2002 under the direction of Gary Fleder ("Don't Say a Word").
Rachel Weisz ("About a Boy" "The Mummy") was the last major player to sign on to the project. She'll be joining John Cusack, Gene Hackman, and Dustin Hoffman when filming gets underway. Cusack will play the jury foreman and Weisz' character is his manipulative love interest. Before Weisz steps in front of the cameras for "The Runaway Jury," she'll work with Ben Stiller and Jack Black in "Envy" from director Barry Levinson.
Grisham's novel centers around a big stakes tobacco lawsuit in Biloxi. A mysterious man - known as Juror #2 - takes control of the jury and the outcome of the trial. But behind every man is a woman, and in this case, it's a woman who is even more mysterious.
