LINDA CARDELLINI (Velma)
Why do you keep getting cast in all the 'smart/nerdy' girl roles?
I don't know (laughing). I think I fooled somebody along the line.
Do you enjoy playing that type of character?
I do, I do. I enjoy playing characters where I get to sort of change my look, my voice. It's not about what she wears, it's about what she's got inside. I think it's pretty fun - especially playing Velma. She's a cartoon character, so that was fun.
Were you a "Scooby Doo" fan before being cast?
Huge, huge, huge!
Which are you more like, Velma or Daphne?
I think somewhere in the middle, but now I love Velma. I'm definitely biased. She's complicated and I love her.

JAMES GUNN (Writer)
Why did you add in a romance for Shaggy in this film?
I think the thing is that the romance isn't so much about the romance between Shaggy and Mary Jane, the romance is about the relationship between Scooby and Shaggy and how does that affect the relationship between Scooby and Shaggy.
And you're also working on a romantic comedy called "The Newlyweds." Can you talk a little about that?
Yes, "The Newlyweds" is a story of a young socialite who is about to marry a surgeon. Three days before her wedding she gets drunk and marries a con man and has to get a divorce on her way to getting married. She falls in love with the con man on the way to getting divorced.
Are you still in the writing process?
Yes. We just
in fact, I'm turning in the final draft next week and I think it's going forward. We'll see what happens.
