DAKOTA FANNING
What's your latest project?
I worked on a mini-series - Steven Spielberg was the executive producer - and it's called Taken.
What part do you play?
I'm an alien - it's about alien abductions.
Did you have to be in a lot of makeup for the role?
Actually I look like a normal girl but I've got special powers. I can heal gunshot wounds and I can stop time.
Can you talk a little about your role in Sweet Home Alabama?
I play a young Reese Witherspoon.
What was that like?
That was really cool. I got to kiss a little boy. I was 7 and he was 10, and his name is Thomas Curtis. He was the first boy I've ever kissed in my entire life and he was three years older than me.
Did you get to work with Reese Witherspoon at all in this film?
No, because I did one scene at the beginning of the movie and then it goes to Reese grown up, later on, but I got to meet her. She's so beautiful and so nice.
And you'll be starring in Cat in the Hat?
I'm going to be Sally and I'm so, so excited! It starts filming in September.
It sounds like you've been very busy. Any other projects?
I'm in Trapped, with Charlize Theron, Kevin Bacon, Stuart Townsend, and Courtney Love.
How do you handle all this attention?
It's just really exciting (giggling).

How is Extra doing?
It's going great. We've now become a lot more entertainment based than I had expected. I think the show competes so well with my buddies at E.T. where I started 20 years ago. It's been a really enjoyable ride. I think we're doing a great job in putting out a good mix of coverage.
How do you feel about competing with your old co-workers?
When you compete with good people, it makes everybody better. In New York and LA, we beat my friends over there at E.T, so I'm very proud of that because they are such a fine show and we really made a lot of progress.
Any plans to do any acting?
I'm pathetic (laughing). I would be so over the top. My husband acts and I have such respect for those that do it well, that I wouldn't even try to pretend I can act.
