MEREDITH MONROE (Hadley)
Can you tell me about your character in "New Best Friend?"
I play Hadley Weston who is very much the “It” girl. She's very privileged, and she's used to her world being very perfect until somebody disrupts it. She has to fight to keep her world perfect. She's not always very nice.
So this was a stretch for you?
(Laughing) This was definitely a stretch! It was wonderful to play her. That was one of the things that I was excited about, especially coming off of “Dawson's Creek” as Andie McPhee, and “The True Story of Laura Ingalls Wilder.” To play a completely different end of the spectrum was very exciting.
Is it fun to play a bad girl?
Yes. You know, I didn't play her as a bad girl. I played her as a girl who was trying to fight to keep her reality even though it's not a reality most of us have. She was exciting.
And you have “G-S.P.O.T.” coming up soon?
That's actually something that my husband and his brother are producing - [they are] first time producers. It's an independent film and I'm going to be doing one of the roles in that.
Do you know what your role is in that one?
I think I'm working toward playing “The Girl.” There's The Girl, The Swank, The Poet, The Old Man, and The Thespian. It's a little bit of a dark comedy and a drama and an ensemble cast, obviously.
Do you prefer film work to television?
You know what? Whoever has an exciting, interesting, wonderful character - it doesn't matter.
