NICHOLAS SPARKS - Author of "A Walk to Remember"
What do you think of the film's casting?
I was very happy. They did a great job. This is a film that takes a lot of maturity to play the roles, and they are both very mature individuals. They really did a great job and they were wonderful people, as well, when I had a chance to meet them. It was all-around good work.
What about the changes from your book to what ends up on the screen?
They always make changes and they have to because they are different mediums. Some things work well on film that don't work in books, and vice-versa. I think if you sell a project, you pretty much go in expecting that and what you hope for is that they do a really good film - and they did.
How about the director, Adam Shankman?
He did a great job, a really great job.
What will the audience take away from this film? It's not a typical teen movie.
No, it's not. I think they'll like it. I think they'll be surprised by how much they like it if they come out and see it. It's just got good values, a good story, it's well acted and it's fast. I don't know what else you can look for in a film.
Any other new projects?
Yes, but I don't know if I can talk about them yet (laughing). Lots of things, I'd guess you'd say, both in films and novels.
