Ginnifer Goodwin in the romantic comedy, "Win a Date With Tad Hamilton!"

DreamWorks Pictures
Do you have a celebrity crush?
I have so many. If I'd say them then they won't ever really happen so I can't [laughing]. I know everybody wants to know who everybody's celebrity crushes are, so I'm safely saying Paul Newman because I know he's married. I think he's the dreamiest man that's ever lived - no offense to anyone. I think he's perfect but I love Joanne Woodward so I won't steal him away.

Did you have a crush on a star when you were a teenager?
Well, I was really into the New Kids On the Block. I kissed the posters.

Who was your favorite?
Joey McIntyre. That was who it was. I had the pillowcase and everything [laughing]. That's so embarrassing.

Did you and Kate Bosworth get together before you started this film to work on your onscreen friendship?
I was pretty much the last person cast and [then] we started. I literally had four days to pack up my New York apartment and get out here, so I didn't have time. Topher Grace was already my best friend so I didn't have to work on anything. Then Kate and I, we immediately fell into the greatest, girly-est, 12 year-old friendship you have ever seen. [It was] like that feeling you get when you first [realize], "I like boys too!" I mean, we were ridiculous. I'm sure everybody was annoyed by us because we were so giggly and girly. She just made me want to paint my nails and wear lipstick and love being a woman, because she's such a phenomenal woman.

We had great fun and thank God we didn't really have to spend a lot of time bonding. We just started working and we were in each others trailers. All four of us played Trivial Pursuit during our lunch break and watched movies and immediately fell into a great synchronicity.

Do you live here in LA now?
I do. I wasn't planning on it but when I was filming "Tad," we went to Disneyland one day - which is not where you should make life-changing decisions - but it ended up being a good one. I was like, “Life is so good. I'm moving to LA.” So I never went home. My stuff was packed up in New York so I just had it sent out here.

And you don't want to move back?
No, but I also move around. I've lived in like six different cities in the past 10 years. I've moved from Memphis to Indiana to Boston to London to Boston to New York to LA, so it's natural for me.

Have you ever felt like you had roots anywhere?
Well, I'm so close to my family that I don't really need a place. We stick together and, in fact, at some point my entire family is moving out on this coast for various reasons. It [just] happens that it will probably happen that way. So I don't need a place.

What are you doing next? Do you have anything planned?
I don't know. I'm reading, and reading, and reading. I wrapped a movie called "Love Comes to the Executioner." I have no idea what I think of it yet because I haven't seen it. But, again, it was one of those things where I could play someone that was completely different from what I played before. This [character] is a manipulative sex addict and conniving baby doll girl. It was great fun and incredibly scary and intimidating. I had to lose my onscreen virginity so my mom can't see it [laughing]. I'm a good Southern girl so nobody in my family is going to be able to see that.

I don't know. I'm fascinated by a number of things, but it's a weird time because now I'm getting to audition for a lot of dream projects. But I'm up against some of my favorite girls my age and they certainly have a lot on me. We're going to see what happens.

With the awards season in full gear, do you get a chance to see a lot of movies? Have you seen anything lately that really blew you away?
Oh my God! I'm not saying this because it's my producers, but “Peter Pan” blew me away. Blew me AWAY. I loved that movie, but I love children's movies - maybe that's why. “21 Grams” and “Lost inTranslation” are probably my two favorite movies this year. Absolutely. God, those were both torturous ones too, weren't they? (Laughing) I don't know what that says about me but “Peter Pan” is in there too, so maybe I'll balance it out.
