Bernard Kerik's Life Story to Become a Feature Film

By , About.com Guide

Oct 14, 2003 - Miramax Films announced they've picked up the film rights to former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik's life story. The studio is planning a feature film based on Kerik's best-selling autobiography, "The Lost Son: A Life in Pursuit of Justice."

The as-yet-untitled movie will focus primarily on the time Kerik spent employed as a narcotics detective. The story will include the episode of his life in which he seized millions-worth of cocaine from the Cali Cartel.

In a press release announcing the acquisition Harvey Weinstein stated, "Bernie Kerik embodies the resolve of all New Yorkers. His grit, determination, and never-say-die attitude is an inspiration and proves once again, that leadership is an action not just a word."

Kerik was quoted in the release as saying, "I am thrilled to be working with Harvey Weinstein and Miramax, who are known for producing wonderful Oscar winning-films and I look forward to working with them closely on this project."
