"The Passion of The Christ" Soundtrack

Integrity Music
MOBILE, Ala., April 12, 2004 - Integrity Media, Inc., a media/communications company that produces, publishes and distributes Christian music, books and related products, today announced that the CD of the official motion picture soundtrack for "The Passion of The Christ", which was released by Integrity Music to the Christian market and Sony Music to the general market in February 2004, has been certified gold (representing combined sales of 500,000 units) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

"The Passion of The Christ" official movie soundtrack scanned 23,208 units for the week ended April 4th, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the number one best-selling Christian music album (according to the Billboard Contemporary Christian chart) for the sixth consecutive week. Meanwhile the movie, while moving down slightly in the weekly box office charts, has generated over $330 million in cumulative box office receipts and now ranks as the #10 best-selling movie of all time, according to Box Office Mojo.

"We congratulate composer John Debney and Mel Gibson on this exciting news," stated Jerry Weimer, President of the Company's Integrity Music subsidiary. "The gold certification comes after only a month of release, and the soundtrack is already on its way to platinum certification. The success of this CD clearly illustrates the power and appeal of music, by allowing so many moviegoers to extend their experience of 'The Passion of The Christ' through the purchase of the soundtrack. We are honored to play a small role in the overall 'The Passion of the Christ' phenomenon."

"The Passion of The Christ" original motion picture soundtrack is the only recording that contains the music from the film. The film score, which was composed by John Debney, brings an atmospheric texture that complements the Caravaggio-inspired cinematography of the film. The soundtrack also features haunting vocals and chants provided by Shannon Kingsbury, Shankar and Gingger, the Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir, The London Voices and Mel Gibson, who co-produced the soundtrack with Debney.

Debney, a three-time Emmy Award winner, has produced numerous motion picture soundtracks for box office favorites, including "Elf," "Bruce Almighty," "Spy Kids," "The Scorpion King," "Cats & Dogs," "The Emperor's New Groove" and "The Princess Diaries."
