ANGELL CONWELL INTERVIEW:
Who do you play in "Soul Plane?"
In "Soul Plane," I play Tamika, and Tamika is one of the main flight attendants. She basically keeps everybody in check. There is first class [and] there's low class, and Tamika kinda goes between first class and low class. She's kind of all running around like a chicken with her head cut off during the whole movie. It's a lot of fun.
Did you do any research?
You know what? Honestly, I just read the script and it pretty much spoke for itself. I've been on so many planes, I didn't have to do too much research because I've been flying too much lately. So no, I didn't have to do too much. Just watching when I fly, the flight attendants, [and] keeping it simple.
Does the film take into account recent sensitivity regarding air travel?
Yeah, and I think it's just a breath of fresh air because you know what? People still have to fly. Even though that happened, not all of us want to, but we still have to. So it's just basically like, "Let's have fun with it." You know, basically laugh to keep from crying. So I think it was a great idea.
Did you have any scenes with Snoop Dogg?
Yes, of course. I've had scenes with Snoop Dogg in three of my movies now. Yeah, so me and Snoop Dogg, we're getting real acquainted on the sets now. We have a couple scenes in the cockpit.
Does he play the pilot?
Yes, he's the pilot. He might not supposed to be the pilot but he is the pilot, and that could cause a problem for NWA airlines.
Is the whole movie on the plane, or do you get off at locations?
No. Basically, once the plane takes off, it's in the air. At the beginning of the movie, they're stuck in the airport and a couple other locations. But basically once the plane takes off, it's all about being in the air, being on Soul Plane.
And since we're here at the premiere of "Barbershop 2," would you ever let a rapper cut your hair?
That might not be such a good idea. They're rappers for a reason, so I think I'll stick with my hair stylist and leave that one alone.
But Queen Latifah's doing "Beauty Shop."
But see, Queen Latifah, that's the difference. Queen Latifah's just talented in everything she does, so she might be able to touch my mane a little bit. I might let her handle my hair.
But not Ice Cube?
No. He can stay doing it in "Barbershop."
