Los Angeles, CA - May 29, 2003

From

Grammy-winning pop and country star LeAnn Rimes has recorded the theme song to MGM Pictures' upcoming comedy "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde" starring Reese Witherspoon, it was announced today by the studio. Multi-award-winning songwriter Diane Warren penned the track, entitled "We Can." The song is set for release to radio in June. "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde" arrives in theatres on July 2, 2003. The film's soundtrack will be released in conjunction with the film through Curb Records.

"I loved the film 'Legally Blonde' and was really thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the sequel," says Rimes. "Underneath all the comedy, 'Legally Blonde 2' has a very positive and uplifting message. The song is a testament to the power of working for a common goal. Plus, we blondes have to stick together," she laughs.

"We're extremely excited to have LeAnn and Diane working together again on a song for 'Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde,'" says Anita Camarata, executive vice president of MGM Music. "They're both so incredibly talented. The film itself is wonderfully funny, Diane has written a fantastic song, and LeAnn nails it -- her voice is amazing. Audiences are in for a real treat."

"We Can" marks another in a string of successful collaborations between Grammy-winning artists Rimes and Warren. Two of Rimes' major hits, "Can't Fight the Moonlight" and "How Do I Live," were written by Warren, for the films "Coyote Ugly" and "Con-Air," respectively. "How Do I Live" is the longest running single ever on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In her career, Rimes has recorded nine Warren tunes, including "We Can" for "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde."

Since bursting onto the scene at age 13 and earning two Grammy Awards for "Blue," her major label debut, LeAnn Rimes has become one of the biggest stars in the popular music arena. Her hit singles include, among others, "Life Goes On," "I Need You," "How Do I Live," and "Can't Fight the Moonlight." Her most recent album is 2002's "Twisted Angel."

Diane Warren is considered one of the most prolific and successful contemporary songwriters. Her songs have been featured in more than 80 films, including six Oscar(R)-nominated songs: "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," sung by Aerosmith for Armageddon; "Because You Loved Me," sung by Celine Dion for Up Close and Personal; "Music of My Heart," sung by *NSYNC and Gloria Estefan for Music of the Heart; "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," sung by Starship for Mannequin; "There You'll Be," sung by Faith Hill for Pearl Harbor; and "How Do I Live" sung by Trisha Yearwood for "Con-Air." Diane has been named ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year six times and Billboard Songwriter of the Year four times. Her publishing company, Realsongs, is one of the most successful female-owned and operated businesses in the music industry.

"Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde" was directed by Charles Herman- Wurmfeld from a screenplay by Kate Kondell and story by Eve Ahlert & Dennis Drake and Kondell, based on the characters created by Amanda Brown. In addition to Witherspoon reprising her role as Elle Woods, the film also stars Sally Field, Regina King, Jennifer Coolidge, Bruce McGill, Bob Newhart, and Luke Wilson and was produced by Marc Platt and David Nicksay.
