He was very nice, very nice. He sent me a note today asking how Im doing in recovery. Hes one of the nicest guys. He helps all his friends, this and that, and we got along great. He came to see me when he was 14 years old. His father took him to see me in Florida. I was working the Sunrise Theater. Thats what happened.
Would you do more drama like "Natural Born Killers?"
Yeah, but for some reason, they want comedy. If youre a comedian, they want to laugh. So I havent done too much of that. But Ive been doing some straight stuff for that movie coming out all about Sam Kinison. I play myself. He was a giant. He was great. Therell never be another one like him. Its too bad what happened, you know. So, Ive been doing that movie and plus I have other things I do.
Whos playing Sam?
Jack Black. You know him? Hes great in it. Its going to be a good movie.
How hard is it to do movies after your health problems?
I do it. I have a lot of energy.
Do you still do standup?
I still do standup too. I had a job booked in the MGM Hotel. I worked there for five years. But I had to cancel because they told me it was too soon to go out and do an act and I do a strong heavy act, you know. Also, my voice wasnt right so I postponed the date. But I still do standup. Thats my first love, I guess.
What are your passions?
My passion is creating something. Show business, thats what it is. I like to create something, and if it comes out real good and people love it, that gives me a kick.
How many jokes can you write in a day?
I could write maybe three, five. If I had to write seriously, I could write more. But my act, I tell almost 400 jokes.
