May 14, 2004 - Revolution Studios has greenlit a second Hellboy movie following the success of the first film based on the comic book series. The stars and behind-the-scenes Hellboy team will be reuniting for the sequel.
Guillermo del Toro and Mike Mignola will work on the script with del Toro directing. Lawrence Gordon, Mike Richardson and Lloyd Levin will produce the sequel.
In a press release issued by Revolution Studios, partner Todd Garner was quoted as saying, "Hellboy was a tremendously successful and unique project. It was Guillermo's vision that brought the film to the marketplace, and we are delighted to be working with him again."
Revolution Studios partner Tom Sherak added, "We are excited to be making the sequel to Hellboy and to be bringing back the amazing creative team that made it so memorable. The film was made for a relatively low cost and has performed magnificently here in the U.S., and we look forward to it continuing its successful run internationally."
