JOEY KERN: That would be easier. If people approach me, thats fine. Im not very good at initiating. Maybe that will give me more confidence in that way. Well see.
Is there any other actor you used as a model for your role? When I saw your character I thought Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused.
JOEY KERN: Sure, people keep saying that. I think hes fantastic in that role and I really, really like that movie. I dont want people to think I just ripped him off. I do respect that character that he did. The way that they wrote [Grind] and they wouldnt let us change it was that the character was like, You stay here and you just do these high school girls all the time. Its the same situation, which they didnt want to deviate from. They kept saying, Nobody that wants to watch this movie has seen Dazed and Confused.
VINCE VIELUF: A whole generation has come and gone.
JOEY KERN: And that wasnt even a big movie, its a cult movie. It didnt do well at the box office. But I respect that character so much, and yes, that was something I drew on. And then also Kelly in Bad News Bears remember the guy with the motorcycle? Someone else brought that up and that really was something Casey and I had talked about.
