How will you handle it when “Cabin Fever” hits and this is out and you start getting approached?
JOEY KERN: That would be easier. If people approach me, that’s fine. I’m not very good at initiating. Maybe that will give me more confidence in that way. We’ll see.

Is there any other actor you used as a model for your role? When I saw your character I thought Matthew McConaughey in “Dazed and Confused.”
JOEY KERN: Sure, people keep saying that. I think he’s fantastic in that role and I really, really like that movie. I don’t want people to think I just ripped him off. I do respect that character that he did. The way that they wrote [“Grind”] – and they wouldn’t let us change it – was that the character was like, “You stay here and you just do these high school girls all the time.” It’s the same situation, which they didn’t want to deviate from. They kept saying, “Nobody that wants to watch this movie has seen ‘Dazed and Confused.’”

VINCE VIELUF: A whole generation has come and gone.

JOEY KERN: And that wasn’t even a big movie, it’s a cult movie. It didn’t do well at the box office. But I respect that character so much, and yes, that was something I drew on. And then also Kelly in “Bad News Bears” – remember the guy with the motorcycle? Someone else brought that up and that really was something Casey and I had talked about.
