"Shattered Glass" starring Hayden Christensen on DVD

Lions Gate Home Entertainment

The Bottom Line

DVD reviews are supposed to be just that - reviews of the DVD release of a movie. In some cases, doing that is not only difficult, it's downright unfair to the film. "Shattered Glass" is the perfect example of a terrific movie that's not a terrific DVD. The movie plays just as well on the small screen as it did in the theater, however the lack of bonus features makes it tough to give it the 5 Star review it justly deserves.

Guide Review - "Shattered Glass" DVD Review

Hayden Christensen heads up an amazing cast in "Shattered Glass," based on the true story of denounced journalist Stephen Glass. Christensen stars as Glass, a bright young star at the respected magazine "The New Republic" whose intrepid reporting and skill at turning a phrase made him one of that magazine's most respected journalists. Glass' life shattered (hence the movie's title) when it was discovered he invented a good portion of his articles and had woven lie upon lie upon lie to back up his faked quotes and stories.

Written and directed by Billy Ray, "Shattered Glass" is a probing look at the collapse of a media star. Ray assembled a top notch cast of supporting players including Peter Sarsgaard, Hank Azaria, Chloe Sevigny, Steve Zahn, and Rosario Dawson, to bring this fascinating story to life. Though unfortunately the DVD lacks much in the way of extra features, the movie itself is reason to pick this one up at the video store.
