Kill Bill vol 1 dvd

Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill Vol. 1" on DVD

Buena Vista Home Entertainment

The Bottom Line

Not to in any way take away from Quentin Tarantino as a filmmaker, but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in the bonus features included on this DVD. I realize Tarantino was busy working on "Vol. 2," but we've come to expect more from him than the very limited extras on "Vol. 1." Still, the movie itself is terrific so if you can get past the lack of extras, then it's worth the purchase price.

Pros

  • Uma Thurman shows she's a star - and that she can kick butt
  • One of the best movies of 2003
  • DVD release timed to attract fans to "Kill Bill Vol. 2"

Cons

  • I expected more in the way of bonus features
  • We all know how much Tarantino loves to talk about his films so why isn't there a commentary track?

Description

  • Making of "Kill Bill Vol. 1": The birth of "Kill Bill" and interviews with Tarantino and the cast
  • Two songs from the band, The 5,6,7,8's
  • Trailers from Quentin Tarantino's films
  • DVD Release Date: April 13, 2004

Guide Review - "Kill Bill Vol. 1" DVD Review

Uma Thurman stars as The Bride, a former assassin whose ex-employer (the 'Bill' of "Kill Bill") and his gang of hired killers (known as the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad) murder her husband-to-be along with the rest of the wedding party. Left for dead, The Bride emerges after four years in a coma with one thing in mind - revenge. Making herself a To Do list of people to kill, The Bride methodically begins working her way through the DiVAS, all the while gearing up for her final showdown with Bill (David Carradine).

Though Bill doesn't really make an appearance in this volume, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah and other assorted deadly bad guys (actually the girls are more lethal in this fictional world) give Uma Thurman a run for her money. This fast-paced, furious mix of genres and styles is pure Tarantino.
