Guide Review - "Holes" Movie - DVD Review
Shia LeBeouf stars as Stanley Yelnats, a good kid who has the bad fortune of ending up at Camp Green Lake (a correctional camp) after a run-in with the law. There he meets and makes friends with an interesting assortment of his peers who are all being forced by the camp's warden to dig a seemingly endless series of holes. Though the warden claims the holes are a way of building character, the kids - in particular Stanley and Zero (Khleo Thomas) - figure out there's more to it than meets the eye.It helps that the author of "Holes" is also the movie's screenwriter. Staying true to the source material is definitely important when a film's based on such a beloved best-seller. "Holes" the movie does a fine job of capturing the book's spirit.
