Guide Review - "Calendar Girls" DVD Review
The movie "Calendar Girls" is based on the true story of 12 ladies who try to raise money for charity from the sale of their Women's Institute calendar by tastefully posing in the nude. These very mature women are not your usual swimsuit/nudie calendar models. None have posed naked before and most are well over 60 years of age. When their little idea to earn a few dollars for a good cause suddenly ignites into a media frenzy, the women become instant celebrities - and earn a sizeable chunk of change for charity.
Helen Mirren and Julie Walters head up a terrific cast in this funny and engaging film. Not a huge success at the box office, on DVD "Calendar Girls" should find the right audience - older movie lovers who enjoy a heartwarming tale.
