Guide Review - "25th Hour" DVD Review

After being convicted of trafficking in drugs, Monty Brogan (Edward Norton) is about to spend the next seven years behind bars. The film traces Brogan's final 24 hours of freedom as he says good-bye to old friends and prepares himself mentally for what lies ahead.

With "25th Hour," Spike Lee not only delivers a riveting film filled with a first-rate cast, he also pays tribute to life in New York after the tragic events of 9/11. "25th Hour" is a down-and-dirty glimpse into the life of a drug dealer as his little empire collapses. The cast, headlined by Edward Norton, Barry Pepper, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rosario Dawson, and Anna Paquin, help bring the fictional Brogan's gritty world of drugs to life without glamorizing it.
