FARGO, N.D., Jan. 28, 2004 - "Wooly Boys," a comedy-adventure set and filmed in North Dakota, opened this past weekend with the second highest grossing per screen average in the country, according to the Daily Variety Weekend Box Office Chart published Tuesday, January 27, 2004. Showing on five screens throughout North Dakota, the film averaged $9,875 per screen.

"We are thrilled by the success of 'Wooly Boys'" says Producer Robert Schwartz. "Audience reaction has been overwhelmingly positive and many are saying that they plan to see it again. We couldn't have asked for a stronger opening."

"We are elated by the successful opening weekend of 'Wooly Boys,'" says Executive Producer Ken Promersberger. "To have the second highest per screen average in the country out of 106 films now playing, is a huge accomplishment. We couldn't be happier."

Starring Peter Fonda and Kris Kristofferson, "Wooly Boys" is a contemporary family film that tells the comedic and moving story of two cantankerous sheep ranchers, Stoney (Peter Fonda) and Shuck (Kris Kristofferson). Facing ill health, Stoney is tricked by his estranged daughter Kate (Robin Dearden) into traveling from his North Dakota Badlands ranch to Minneapolis where he reconnects with his over-programmed, over-protected teenage grandson Charles (Joe Mazzello).

"Wooly Boys" was produced by filmmaking partners Robert Schwartz, producer, of Los Angeles and Ken Promersberger, executive producer, of Fargo. It was directed by Leszek Burzynski. Max Enscoe and Annie deYoung wrote "Wooly Boys," which was adapted from a screenplay by Glen Stephens, Ed Hansen and Buck Flower, with the story by Glen Stephens.
