The Bottom Line

One of my personal favorite films of 2002, "Chicago" is a fast-paced movie musical featuring a great cast and sharply choreographed song and dance numbers.

  • Fast-paced, excellent cast, and great songs
  • Informative 'Behind the Scenes' featurette
Cons
  • Not much in the way of bonus features

Description

  • 'Behind the Scenes' - Featurette with cast interviews, history of the play, and dance rehearsals
  • 'All That Jazz' Music Video - Tacked on to the end of the 'Behind the Scenes' featurette
  • 'Class' Music Video - Deleted musical scene featuring Queen Latifah and Catherine Zeta-Jones
  • Commentary by director Rob Marshall and screenwriter Bill Condon

Guide Review - "Chicago" DVD Review

Sexy, stylish, and entertaining, "Chicago" follows the lives of nightclub performer Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and wannabe star Roxie Hart (Renee Zellweger). Both spotlight-seeking vixens find themselves in jail after high-profile murders. While on Murderess Row, the two compete for the public's attention - and the time of ace criminal attorney, Billy Flynn (Richard Gere). Assisting them in their battle for fame and fortune is the jail's matron, Mama Morton (Queen Latifah).

The winner of six Academy Awards, "Chicago" transitions well to the small screen, particularly if played on a home theater system equipped with DTS 5.1 Digital Surround Sound.
