My mother directed amateur stage productions so from like [the age of] six, I had to play like a mouse in Wind in the Willows or whatever. Then at school I did that for a while, then I was a bit of a jock. At 17, I had a go at a play and [then] went up to university and studied drama and thought, Lets give it a crack.
What was your first role?
It was a film for ABC called Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Catchy title. It was pretty bad, actually. I was great in it (laughing). I was a painter called Casper. I think it was based on a book. It was a post-modern reworking of the Cinderella story. Stockard Channing was in it and Jonathan Pryce.
What are you up to next?
Nothing has been greenlit yet, but people have been good enough to come to me with things.
What about being the next James Bond?
(Laughing) Id love to do it but I think theyll give it to Clive Owen.
