John Cusack Discusses "The Ice Harvest"

Sunday November 20, 2005
John Cusack reunites with his "Pushing Tin" co-star Billy Bob Thornton for the comedy/noir-ish thriller, "The Ice Harvest." Directed by Harold Ramis and based on the novel by Scott Phillips, "The Ice Harvest" stars Cusack as a mob lawyer who teams up with an unsavory associate (Thornton) to rip off his boss for $2+ million. Cusack says that although this is a crime story, audiences will be able to relate to these characters. Box Office Report - Nov 18-20, 2005
If anyone doubts the power of Harry Potter to lure people to theaters, they have only to check out the opening weekend numbers for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." The ability to capture big bucks at the box office hasn't diminished one iota with the fourth installment of the "Harry Potter" franchise. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" posted the biggest opening weekend numbers of any "Harry Potter" movie to date. And the fourth film of the series now stands as the fourth largest opening weekend of all time.

Online movie ticket site Fandango reports that it sold an estimated $12 million of the $102.3 million, accounting for almost 12% of the overall domestic ticket sales. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is now only second to "Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith" in advance tickets purchased through Fandango.

MovieTickets.com says it expects $10 million in sales for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" over the film's opening weekend. The ticketing firm also reports that "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" sold more tickets in a single day than any other film in MovieTickets.com's five-year history.

The Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" also opened to big numbers. "Walk the Line" finished in second place with $22 million in ticket sales, which is at the high end of pre-release industry estimates for the film.
