"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" Premiere Coverage

Thursday July 14, 2005
The stars of the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" movie showed up in Hollywood last weekend for the film's Los Angeles Premiere. Fans lined Hollywood Blvd to see Johnny Depp, braving unseasonably hot weather (for So. Californians anything in the high 80s is torture) for a shot at an autograph or photo with Depp. At least the fans had mostly shady areas to hang out in. Those of us in the media lining the brown carpet (in keeping with the 'chocolate' theme) had to fight over space in the shade of Graumann's Chinese Theater. But enough about the heat...

An interesting assortment of stars put in an appearance at the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" premiere. Melanie Griffith (but no Antonio Banderas) was there as were Seth Green, Martin Landau and David Hasselhoff. But it was a certain pop star who had fans and photographers going crazy. Photographers literally fell over themselves trying to get shots of a very pregnant Britney Spears who showed up with Kevin Federline moments before the screening began. Spears, who held hands with Federline and was all smiles, sported a T-Shirt which read "I've Got the Golden Ticket" with an arrow pointing down to her belly.
