Lots of interesting casting tidbits were revealed this week, starting off with the news Jennifer Lawrence could be reuniting with her The Hunger Games director Gary Ross for a remake of East of Eden. According to Deadline, Lawrence will play Kate, the role that earned Jo Van Fleet a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. The 1955 film based on the John Steinbeck novel was directed by Elia Kazan and starred James Dean and Julie Harris.
And speaking of Lawrence, The Hollywood Reporter says she's filmed a secret cameo (which is no longer secret) in Dumb and Dumber To, taking on the part of a younger Kathleen Turner. The D&D sequel reunites Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels and is currently shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. The Dumb and Dumber sequel also just added Rob Riggle to its cast (he'll be playing twins).
In other news, Sony Pictures Classics has moved Foxcatcher starring Steve Carell and Channing Tatum out of this year's awards season and instead will open the dramatic film in 2014. The decision to bump it out of 2013 was made because director Bennett Miller (Capote, Moneyball) is not finished with the film.
And New Line Cinema has decided on a Wednesday, November 26, 2014 release for Horrible Bosses 2. The sequel to the R-rated blockbuster reunites Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, and Jason Bateman, the put-upon employees who took care of their horrible bosses (played by Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, and Kevin Spacey) in the first film. The original movie was directed by Seth Gordon; the sequel has Sean Anders (director of That's My Boy, writer of We're the Millers) at the helm.
