Barbra StreisandAnd that headline really doesn't need any further explanation, does it? But, to make a short story slightly longer... Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have added Barbra Streisand to the short list of performers set to take the stage for the 85th Academy Awards. This year's Oscars will celebrate musicals and music in movies, with Streisand returning to perform at the Academy Awards for only the second time in her lengthy career. Her only previous performance on Hollywood's biggest night was way, way back in 1977 when she sang the theme from "A Star is Born."

Announcing Streisand's involvement, producers Meron and Zadan stated: "In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music, how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand? We are honored that she has agreed to do a very special performance on this year's Oscars, her first time singing on the show in 36 years."

Additional artists already confirmed to perform include Norah Jones who will sing "Everybody Needs a Friend" from Ted and Adele who will perform "Skyfall" from Skyfall.

The 2013 Oscars will take place at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 24, 2013.
