The Screen Actors Guild Awards is the only awards show that features actors honoring their own - and no one else. It's also one of the few shows that doesn't use a host to move things along. Is that a good thing? Not necessarily, but at least the SAG Awards is able to deliver 13 acting awards, an honorary award to Dick Van Dyke, and an In Memoriam clip in a fairly swift two hour window without too much needless banter.
But back to the awards... And the 'Actor' goes to Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook. Congratulations, and well deserved!
"Oh my god, this is incredible! Thank you so much!," said Lawrence. She then explained how she got her SAG card for doing an MTV show. "And now I have this naked statue that means that some of you even voted for me. That is an indescribable feeling."
Lawrence thanked David O Russell for helping his son by putting out Silver Linings Playbook and thus helped untold numbers of sons and daughters at the same time to feel understood. She then turned her attention on co-star Bradley Cooper and said, "Bradley, my performance would not be what it is without you. You made me better every day and I can say the same for the movie, that the movie would not be what it is without you."
