What's up with studios this week? Movie 43 isn't screening for critics at all and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and Parker are only screening the night before they open, which is never a good sign. Do studios think critics are completely lacking a sense of humor?
Movie 43 has more stars than you can shake a stick at including Hugh Jackman, Emma Stone, Kate Winslet, and Gerard Butler, yet it's being kept from critics. Uh-oh. And in my city Hansel & Gretel is getting a late evening preview at 8pm, just hours before its official opening in theaters. It's not uncommon for studios to withhold action or horror films, so I'm not surprised Parker's also only screening the night before it opens. But seriously, Movie 43 is coming out with no advance previews? That's just bizarre.
This could be one of the worst (as far as quality goes) weekends of 2013. Pay for tickets at your own risk.
