Being a participant on Survivor appears to have resurrected Lisa Whelchel's interest in being in front of the camera. The former Facts of Life star will be joining the cast of Tyler Perry's 900th film (slight exaggeration there), Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news and reports Whelchel will be playing a school principal.
Perry's cast also includes Larry the Cable Guy, Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill), Tika Sumpter, and Kathy Najimy. The writer/director/actor/producer is currently shooting Single Moms Club as well as A Madea Christmas.
Whelchel, a 49 year old mother of three, has been living in Texas and hasn't been a part of a feature film since the direct-to-DVD release of Where the Red Fern Grows: Part Two in 1991.
