Machete Kills will be ready to slay audiences on September 13, 2013 as announced today by Open Road Films. The original Machete starring Danny Trejo was released on September 3, 2010 and made back its $10 million budget over the opening weekend before finishing up its theatrical run with $39 million worldwide.
The sequel, also directed by Robert Rodriguez, brings back Machete stars Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jessica Alba. New to the Machete trilogy with Machete Kills are Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas (a frequent collaborator with Rodriguez), Demian Bichir, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr, William Sadler, and Mel Gibson.
The official synopsis: "In Machete Kills, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man - he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
