So is there anything worth checking out this month in theaters? January's normally a strange month for theatrical releases, with studios either expanding their award-worthy offerings in more theaters or dumping films they don't have a lot of faith would be able to generate box office dollars in more crowded months.
This month finds the expansion of Sony's Zero Dark Thirty, Summit's The Impossible, and Focus' fracking drama Promised Land into additional markets. The coming weeks will also bring us a few horror offerings, a bloody action/comedy/thriller based on a fairy tale, and a violent gangster film featuring a star-studded cast.
