Filmmaker Shawn Levy's 21 Laps production company is teaming up with FilmNation Entertainment to produce Story of Your Life. The sci-fi thriller, based on the short story by Ted Chiang, was scripted by Eric Heisserer and will be directed by commercial director Nic Mathieu.
Heisserer's credits include the remakes of The Thing and A Nightmare on Elm Street as well as Final Destination 5. Mathieu will be making his feature film directorial debut with this thriller. FilmNation's financing Story of Your Life and will handle the film's worldwide distribution.
The plot: "Story of Your Life is a mind-bending science fiction thriller with a powerful, emotional twist. After aliens land around the globe, a linguist is recruited by the US government in a race to decipher their intentions on Earth."
Casting's just getting underway with an eye on shooting in 2013.
