After denying internet rumors that Mark Wahlberg was going to be the lead in his next Transformers movie, Michael Bay's done an about-face and has now declared Wahlberg will in fact star in Transformers 4. The two just finished working together on Pain & Gain, which also stars Dwayne Johnson. Which leads us to wonder, could Bay be bringing in Johnson to play around with robots in T4? Let's start that rumor now...
Bay had this to say about Wahlberg and T4: "Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain and Gain and I'm so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers' legacy.
Transformers 4 will be Bay's next project and is expected to begin filming in the spring. Paramount Pictures has set a June 27th, 2014 release date.
Bay's Pain and Gain hits theaters on April 26, 2013.
