Well, that makes sense. Hercules would seem to be right in Dwayne Johnson's wheelhouse, and Radical Publishing has confirmed he will indeed take on the title role in the action film set up at MGM and Paramount Pictures. Brett Ratner will direct the project which is based on Radical Publishing's Hercules: The Thracian Wars.
Per Radical, the comic book is "an action-filled story based on the popular Ancient Greek mythology of Hercules." Ryan Condol adapted Steven Moore's comic book for the screen with Evan Spiliotopoulos handling revisions.
Filming will begin in early 2013.
Johnson has G.I. Joe Retaliation, Snitch, and Pain and Gain coming to theaters in 2013. He's currently busy working on Fast and the Furious 6.
