Actually, I read the press release and was a bit confused. I'd assumed Man of Steel would be in 3D all along ... aren't most big tentpole films in 3D these days? However, it's just now been made completely 100% official. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures are indeed releasing the new Superman movie in 3D. Man of Steel will be available to audiences in 2D, 3D, and IMAX when it hits screens on June 14, 2013.
Says director Snyder: "The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow Man of Steel to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We've taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement."
An enhancement? Can they please 'enhance' those annoying glasses before making any more 3D movies? Please?
Man of Steel finds Henry Cavill (amazing in The Tudors) taking on the role of Clark Kent/Superman with Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder produced the film and David S Goyer wrote the screenplay.
