The rumors were true and Bryan Singer is returning to the X-Men franchise as director of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Singer directed X-Men (2000) and X2 (2003), Brett Ratner filled the director's chair for X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and Matthew Vaughn helmed the prequel to the series, X-Men: First Class (2011). After Vaughn stepped away from the First Class sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fox apparently went back to Singer who was on board as producer for First Class. And in a bit of role-swapping, Vaughn will produce Days of Future Past while Singer directs.
Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and James McAvoy will be back for the sequel. Fox is aiming for a July 18, 2014 theatrical release.
Singer's also got Jack the Giant Slayer (formerly Jack the Giant Killer) heading to theaters on March 1, 2013.
