File this one in the "we'll believe it when we see photos from the set" category, but Deadline's reporting Ghostbusters 3 is now aiming for a 2013 summer production start-up. Ivan Reitman's back on board to direct with Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis involved in the long-delayed, much-anticipated sequel.
And for fans of Peter Venkman...sorry, but it's a no go for Bill Murray. In an interview with Metro, Aykroyd confirmed Murray won't be involved. "It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation," said Aykroyd. "Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."
Recently, Etan Cohen (Men in Black 3) was brought in to rework the script.
