David O. Russell's big-name cast for his upcoming drama just grew by one more big name. Christian Bale will be reuniting with his The Fighter director for what's currently being referred to only as The Untitled David O. Russell Project. Others already attached to the film include Amy Adams (also from The Fighter) and Jeremy Renner, as well as Russell's Silver Linings Playbook star Bradley Cooper.
Eric Warren Singer came up with the original script and will be working on the screenplay with Russell. Columbia Pictures is aiming for a 2013 theatrical release, with filming anticipated to start in February.
Producer Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment commented on the cast, stating: "David has put together an incredible ensemble of actors for what is going to be a powerful and emotional drama about one of the most memorable cast of characters in recent history."
The official synopsis: "The Untitled David O. Russell Project is based on the true story of a notorious financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams), who were forced to work with an out of control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. At the epicenter of the entire tale, is the passionate and volatile leader of the New Jersey state assembly (Renner) who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden."
