New dad Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, and Morgan Freeman have all signed up to play with Legos. The foursome are the latest actors to commit to lending their voices to the untitled 3D Lego animated movie set up at Warner Bros Pictures. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller came up with the original screenplay (story by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller) and are directing the animated film which will be based on LEGO toys and will feature popular existing LEGO figures as well as new characters.
The movie is currently in production with Warner Bros eyeing a February 28, 2014.
The official synopsis: The film, the first-ever full length theatrical LEGO movie, follows Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously under-prepared.
Freeman will voice an old mystic named Vitruvius and Banks will lend her voice to Lucy, a tough-as-nails fellow traveler who "mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest." Arnett meanwhile gets to provide the voice of the mysterious Batman, a "LEGOŽ minifigure" who shares a history with Lucy.
