Not having read Don DeLillo's novel before watching Cosmopolis, it took a few minutes for me to get into the rhythm of the dialogue which is very specific and unique. Now after having the opportunity to speak with writer/director David Cronenberg about adapting and directing DeLillo's work, the book's moved to the top of my must read list.
Cronenberg's stylish and trippy film features Twilight's Robert Pattinson (at what point will he no longer be considered 'Twilight's' Rob?) in the lead role, and Cosmopolis rests on Pattinson's shoulders as he's front and center in every scene. And in our exclusive interview, I asked Cronenberg what it was about Pattinson that earned him the role. We also discussed how faithful his adaptation is to DeLillo's critically acclaimed novel and whether he believes he and DeLillo shares the same opinion of the main character:
