Any doubts there will be another Spider-Man film were swept away with The Amazing Spider-Man's $140 million take over its first six days in release. The new rebooted Spider-Man did well, surpassing the openings of both X-Men: First Class and Batman Begins (according to BoxOfficeMojo). However, it didn't quite match the first Spider-Man's take or come anywhere close to the openings of Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. Still, $140 million is on the high end of what most experts had predicted, with some of the film's box office success coming from IMAX screenings where it posted an impressive $14.3 million opening.
Oliver Stone's Savages also opened on the upper end of pre-release estimates, while Katy Perry's concert film failed to catch on with audiences.
