There's no official word on Anna Faris' status (it's looking doubtful at this point), however Dimension Films confirmed today that Ashley Tisdale will star in one of the lead roles in Scary Movie 5. Yes, there is going to be a Scary Movie 5, and apparently it's going to be set in the world of dance and be a takeoff on Black Swan.
Filming is scheduled to start this summer on the horror comedy, with Malcolm Lee (Soul Men) on board as director. Scary Movie 3 and 4 director David Zucker returns as co-writer and producer.
The original Scary Movie was released in 2000 on a $19 million-ish budget and made $260 million during its theatrical run. The most recent Scary Movie hit theaters in 2006 with less of a return ($172 million) on a bigger budget ($45 million).
