Robopocalypse has a new release date, Independence Day is returning in 3D, and the next Apes film is officially Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Wait, back up a minute... Independence Day will be back in theaters in 3D? Yes, and it will be converted by the same people who did the Titanic 3D conversion. Get ready to fork over money to theater chains on July 3, 2013 for a film you probably already own on DVD.
The rest of the 2013 - 2014 schedule updates:
- Fox, Disney and DreamWorks moved Robopocalypse (I've read the book and still can't spell the title correctly on my first attempt) from July 3, 2013 to April 25, 2014.
- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes rises on May 23, 2014 with Rupert Wyatt back as director.
- The untitled X-Men film with director Matthew Vaughn at the helm will open on July 18, 2014.
- The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig will open on December 25, 2013.
- Walking with Dinosaurs has walked away from an October 11th release date to December 20, 2013.
- The Percy Jackson sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, has vacated its March 15th release date in favor of an August 16, 2013 launch.
- And the Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy cop buddy comedy will try to deliver laughs on April 5, 2013.
