Guillermo Del Toro, one of my favorite people to interview, will be making his animated feature film directorial debut with Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio. Del Toro is set to co-direct with Mark Gustafson on the 3D stop-motion project, which is set up with the Jim Henson Company.
Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio is based on the edition of Carlo Collodi's classic story illustrated by Gris Grimly, with Del Toro, Grimly, and Matthew Robbins working on the story, and Robbins credited with the screenplay. Del Toro, Lisa Henson, and Jason Lust are producing and Grimly, Gary Ungar, Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel are executive producing.
In the official announcement, Lisa Henson stated, "Guillermo has been so passionate about this project from its inception and it is an honor to have him bring his unique blend of live action and animation experience to this well-loved story, collaborating with the talented Mark Gustafson."
