Filming Begins on Beautiful Creatures

The big screen adaptation of Beautiful Creatures, the first book in the Caster Chronicles series from Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, has just begun shooting in and around New Orleans. Garcia and Stohl's bestselling series includes Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness, Beautiful Chaos, and Beautiful Redemption (coming this October).

Richard LaGravenese adapted the book and is directing. The cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Alice Englert, Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, Viola Davis and Emmy Rossum.

The official synopsis: "A hauntingly intense, supernatural love story set in the South, Beautiful Creatures is about two star-crossed teenage lovers: Ethan (Ehrenreich), a local boy, and a mysterious new girl, Lena (Englert), who uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town."

Alcon Entertainment's aiming for a February 2013 release of Beautiful Creatures in theaters.
