The Hollywood Reporter says writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Cowboys and Aliens) have come on board the untitled sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. Sony's moving full speed ahead with the sequel - even though the reboot of the franchise doesn't hit theaters until July 3rd - with Andrew Garfield returning in the title role. There's no word yet on whether director Marc Webb will accompany him to work on the next Spidey film.
Back in March 2011, it was reported The Amazing Spider-Man screenwriter James Vanderbilt was at work on the script. He did a draft, but is apparently busy with other projects and Sony has asked Kurtzman and Orci to take over scripting duties.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, producer Matt Tolmach said, "Alex and Bob have a unique ability to write great character and spectacular action that makes them pitch perfect for Spider-Man."
The next Spider-Man movie will arrive on May 2, 2014.
