So, John Carter didn't exactly light the box office on fire and the jury's still out on Battleship, however the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) has chosen Taylor Kitsch as the Male Star of Tomorrow. Kitsch will be presented with the award during the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards to be held on April 26th at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
CinemaCon's Managing Director Mitch Neuhauser had this to say about the group's decision to recognize Kitsch: "Having impressed television audiences with his engrossing portrayal of a troubled Texas high-school fullback in Friday Night Lights, Kitsch continues to dive into each assigned role with an incredible passion that shines through in all of his work. A talented young man with a bright future ahead of him entertaining moviegoing audiences around the world, I could not think of someone more fitting to be this year's 'CinemaCon Male Star of Tomorrow.' We are honored to be able to present him with this award."
Kitsch's other film credits include Snakes on a Plane, The Covenant, John Tucker Must Die, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and The Bang Bang Club. In addition to Battleship, Kitsch has Savages, directed by Oliver Stone and co-starring Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch and Demian Bichir, heading to theaters this year.
