Sofia Coppola will be writing and directing The Bling Ring, with Harry Potter's Emma Watson signed on for a lead role. The Bling Ring is based on the true story of a group of teens, known as the Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch, who committed a series of burglaries in and around Hollywood. They were finally caught in 2009 after ripping off celebs, including Lindsay Lohan, Audrina Patridge, and Orlando Bloom, for millions of dollars in art, jewelry, and other items.
In an interview with Variety, Coppola said, "I'm excited about the young cast we're assembling and I'm looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles."
Sofia Coppola will also be producing the film with her brother Roman and Youree Henley.
Watson was last seen in a supporting role in My Week with Marilyn and has Perks of Being a Wallflower heading to theaters this year. She recently became attached to Harry Potter director David Yates' next film, Your Voice in My Head, and Beauty and the Beast for Guillermo del Toro.
